Which museums and exhibitions to see with children in Paris in February?

In February in Paris, culture is more than ever within the reach of children. Many museums organise visits, exhibitions and workshops dedicated to children throughout the month. We have selected some of them for you!

 

Centre Pompidou

The Centre Pompidou offers activities specially designed for young people aged from 0 to 18 years. The programme: exhibitions and installations, visits and creative workshops, free events. In the Galerie des enfants, you will find different family workshops, as the Tubabulures, a sensory landscape, created by a duet of designers from BehaghelFoiny Studio for 0 to 2 years old kids. This space is available until the 19th of March 2023.

The museum also offers a space combining plastic arts and technological tools for teenagers : the Studio for 13 to 16 years. You can discover the interesting event "Rituels", around rituals and symbolism, which ends on 9th of April 2023.

And don't forget : the Centre Pompidou is free every first Sunday of the month.

 

Cité des sciences et de l'industrie

During the school holidays, take the whole family to discover the many secrets and mysteries of science by exploring the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie. Visit the Children's City, which includes two areas created for fun learning, experimentation and educational games.

Until 6th of August 2023, let yourself be carried away by the exhibition Foules, created in collaboration with Mehdi Moussaïd. This visit is suitable for kids aged 10 and over. You will discover all about the phenomenon of the crowd and its prejudices, with clever scenographies.

 

Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle

The Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, located in the heart of the Jardin des Plantes, offers activities for all ages. For the holidays, take the whole family on board to meet fabulous animals and plant species.

Until the 23th of April 2023, the musée national d'Histoire naturelle presents the mini-monstres exhibition. On the programme: lice, fleas, flies... Discover the world of these small parasites, often feared. They will no longer have any secrets for you!

 

Louvre Museum

During the month of February, the Louvre Museum offers themed guided tours for children from the age of 4 years. Take the whole family on a discovery of its most famous masterpieces, walk among the animals that inhabit it, confront the gods of Olympus or take a trip back in time to the days of the Pharaohs.

The Louvre also offers free creative workshops for families and children. The workshops and activities last between two and three hours and are suitable for all visitors, both young and old. Remember to book in advance!

 

Musée de l’Homme

Until the 22th of May 2023, discover the exhibition "Arts et préhistoire". Embark on a journey through time to discover incredible masterpieces of prehistoric times from all around the world.

 

Espace Lafayette-Drouot

With your teens, follow in the footsteps of Banksy to discover street art. The immersive exhibition The World of Banksy is available during the entire year. This audio and visual exhibition reconstructs a 1200 m² urban space and presents a hundred or so works, including 42 life-size frescoes reconstructed by graffiti artists from all over the world.

From New York to Paris to London, dive into the world of this mysterious artist. His works are as poetic as they are committed.

 

Louis Vuitton Foundation

Discover the Fondation Vuitton with your family thanks to the family ticket valid for 2 adults and up to 4 children giving access to all the exhibitions, the collections and the Jardin d'Acclimatation. Until the 27th of February 2023, visit the exhibition "Monet - Mitchell".

It represents a dialogue through the works of Claude Monet and Joan Mitchell, on their respective visions of landscape and nature. There are also activities and workshops specially designed for families and children, but beware, reservations are required in advance.

 

What activities to do in Paris during the February holiday?

Paris comes alive during the February holidays! From skating rinks to agricultural show and the Paris carnival, there are plenty of activities to make sure your children have a great holiday.

 

Ice rink at the Montparnasse Tower

From the 4th of February to the 5th of March, the ice rink is back at the top of the Montparnasse Tower! Enjoy a breathtaking view of Paris from a height of over 210 metres and put on your skates. With a surface area of 320 m², the rink is open from 2pm to 8pm and is accessible from 2 years old.

On the terrace, you will also find a bar where you can warm up and get your strength back: mulled wine, waffles, hot chocolate... Don't forget to book your session!

 

Paris International Agricultural Show

Like every year, the Paris International Agricultural Show is back at the Parc des Expositions from the 25th of February to the 5th of March. It is an annual family event not to be missed! It's an opportunity for all the family to discover hundreds of farm animals and agricultural products.

Many workshops and activities will be proposed especially for children. Among them, don't miss the milking parlour and the educational farm.

This year it is the cow Ovalie, 5 years old, who will be the muse of the SIA 2023. She will represent the Salers breed.

 

Paris Carnival

The Paris Carnival - Promenade du Boeuf Gras returns for its 25th edition. This year, it will focus on the “plant world under the stars”. The event will take place as it does every year, on the Sunday before Mardi Gras, on Sunday 19th of February 2023. The procession will start at 1pm from the Place Gambetta and arrive around 5pm at the Place de la République. Don't forget your disguises!
