Brussels Flower Carpet 2024 at the Grand-Place
The Flower Carpet is returning to Brussels from 15 to 18 August! The Grand-Place will once again be transformed into a huge floral carpet, attracting visitors from all over the world. This event is one of the most eagerly awaited of the year, and what better way to discover it than with Tootbus?
What is the Flower Carpet?
The Brussels Flower Carpet is a tradition that dates back to 1971. Every other year, hundreds of thousands of begonias and dahlias are carefully arranged to form spectacular, ephemeral designs on the Grand-Place in Brussels, outside City Hall. Each edition has its own theme, and the designs are always breath-taking. This is a veritable outdoor work of art, which lasts just 4 days.
What does the 2024 edition have in store?
The 2024 edition will see a creation by Océane Cornille take pride of place at the heart of Brussels, showcasing the Art Nouveau style. The begonia, the traditional flower of the event, will this year yield somewhat to the dahlia, a robust and decorative flower grown in Belgium.
Nearly 120 artists and volunteers will be working to create this floral masterpiece in under 6 hours! Alongside the main exhibition, a series of concerts, light shows and activities for the whole family will be taking place on the Grand-Place.
The event also provides the perfect opportunity to admire Brussels's iconic Gothic and Classical-style City Hall.
Good news all round, then! Tootbus is now offering a discounted admission ticket for City Hall when you buy a Brussels Discovery ticket.
